¨     In the Responsible Nations Index, 2026 launched by the World Intellectual Foundation, India has secured 16th position among 154 countries. This index evaluates countries on the basis of internal governance, environmental responsibility and global cooperation, which highlights responsible national conduct beyond economic power.

¨     Former President Ram Nath Kovind launched the Responsible Nations Index (RNI) in New Delhi. Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Kovind said that RNI is an important index which focuses on promoting responsible behavior of countries towards humanity.
Responsible Nations Index (RNI)
¨     It assesses diverse countries on the basis of responsible governance instead of traditional power or GDP-centric standards.
¨     This index has been developed by the World Intellectual Foundation (WIF) in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), IIM Mumbai and Dr. Ambedkar International Centre.
¨     This index covers 154 countries on the basis of data obtained from transparent and global sources, to ensure reliability and comparability.
Three main dimensions of RNI
This index is based on three core dimensions
¨     Internal Responsibility: Assesses dignity, justice and citizen welfare.
¨     Environmental Responsibility: Evaluates conservation of natural resources and climate action.
¨     External Responsibility: Measures a country’s contribution to peace, multilateral cooperation and global stability.
