India has facilitated the export of 25 metric tonnes of Joha Rice of Assam

¨     India has facilitated the export of 25 metric tonnes of Joha Rice of Assam.

¨     Assam’s GI-tagged Joha Rice has been shipped to the United Kingdom and Italy.

¨  The shipment was enabled by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority.

¨     Joha Rice is known for its high nutritional value. It also has a unique heritage.

¨     The rice received Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2017.

¨     This export reflects government efforts to expand India’s agricultural exports.

¨     It is part of a push to open new international markets.

¨     The initiative also aims to provide better income opportunities for farmers in Assam.
