Ministry of Heavy Industries invited global bids setting up giga-scale Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery manufacturing facilities in India

¨     Ministry of Heavy Industries invited global bids on 15 July 2026 for setting up giga-scale Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery manufacturing facilities in India.

¨     The tender covers a cumulative manufacturing capacity of 10 GWh.

¨  The entire 10 GWh capacity is reserved for Grid-Scale Stationary Storage applications.

¨     The project is being implemented under the National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage.

¨     The programme is a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to promote domestic battery manufacturing.

¨     The National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage was approved by the Union Cabinet in May 2021.

¨     The scheme has a budgetary outlay of ₹18,100 crore.

¨     It aims to establish 50 GWh of Advanced Chemistry Cell manufacturing capacity in India.

¨     The scheme supports domestic production of battery cells for electric mobility and stationary energy storage.

¨     Tender documents for the 10 GWh manufacturing round were released on 15 July 2026.

¨     The pre-bid conference is scheduled for 29 July 2026.

¨     The last date for bid submission is 13 October 2026.

¨     Technical bids will be opened on 14 October 2026.

¨     Out of the total target of 50 GWh, 40 GWh had already been allocated in earlier bidding rounds.

¨   The remaining 10 GWh capacity is being offered through the current global bidding process.
