Prime Minister Inaugurates the ‘Seva
Teerth’ Integrated Administrative Complex
Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Seva Teerth’
Integrated Administrative Complex in the national capital. This complex is
being seen as a significant step toward making India’s governance system more
effective, coordinated, and modern. Important and strategic offices such as the
Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the National Security Council Secretariat
(NSCS), and the Cabinet Secretariat are housed within the ‘Seva Teerth’ complex.
This significant change marks the end of nearly eight
decades of the Prime Minister's Office operating from South Block (now part of
the National Museum of the Age of India). The change coincides with the 95th
anniversary (February 13, 1931) of the formal inauguration of New Delhi as the
modern capital of India, reflecting its historical significance.
Key Points
¨
Philosophical Meaning:
The name has a philosophical meaning rooted in Sanskrit: 'Seva' means selfless
dedication or service. 'Tirtha' indicates a sacred place or guiding point,
liberating one from obstacles. The complex is inscribed with the motto
"Nagarik Devo Bhava," meaning citizens are like God.
¨
Architectural Influence:
The entrance was designed by Dr. Bimal Patel and features stone carvings
inspired by Chalukya temples (11th-13th centuries). It also features floral
stone motifs, which are derived from geometric temple forms with square bases.
Contemporary ornamentation elements include metal-clad domes inspired by
Buddhist stupas. It is an important part of the Central Vista redevelopment
project. Built of white and red sandstone, the facility features modern open
workspaces, a high-tech 'India House' for international summits, and 4-star
green building standards.
¨
First official act: As his
first official act, the Prime Minister launched the 'PM Relief Scheme' at 'Seva
