Raisina Dialogue 2026

The Prime Minister of India inaugurated the 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. The Raisina Dialogue is India's flagship conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, held annually in New Delhi since 2016. It is organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs. It has emerged as India's counterpart to major global strategic forums such as the Munich Security Conference and the Shangri-La Dialogue, strengthening India's role in shaping global governance discussions. This year's theme is "Sanskar - Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement." The inaugural edition of the Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative was also organized as part of the Dialogue to discuss science diplomacy and the governance of emerging technologies. The Dialogue provides a platform where global policymakers, strategic experts, and eminent thinkers deliberate on key international challenges.

What are the key findings of the Raisina Dialogue 2026

¨     Raisina Science Diplomacy Initiative: A new framework was launched to integrate science and technology with foreign policy, with a special focus on AI governance, semiconductor supply chains, and India's digital public infrastructure for developing countries.

¨     Transition to a Multipolar World: The dialogue acknowledged the emergence of a multipolar global order, in which the Global South is playing a key role in shaping the future international order. Emerging South-South Partnerships and resilient multilateral groupings are increasingly influencing global governance. India's strategic engagement through BRICS, the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), and the India, France, and UAE trilateral grouping reflects this shift, positioning India as a architect of new partnerships and a leading voice from the 'Global South'.

¨     Transformed Multilateralism: There were strong calls for reform of the UN Security Council to reflect current geopolitical realities, including growing support for India's permanent membership.

¨     Focus on Maritime Security: Amid rising tensions in the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Indo-Pacific, special emphasis was placed on the security of global supply chains, undersea communication cables, and sea lanes.
