Vinai Kumar Saxena Inaugurates 15 Common
Facility Centers (CFCs) Across Various Regions of Ladakh
¨ The Lieutenant Governor
of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, inaugurated 15 Common Facility Centers (CFCs)
across various regions of the Union Territory on June 2, 2026.
¨ These centers have been
established in Skurbuchan, Wanla, Saspol, Chuchot, Kharu, Anle, Koyul, Korzok,
Chushul, Phobrang, Sato, Panamik, Diskit, Turtuk, and Digar.
¨ The objective of this
initiative is to empower the rural economy, provide modern amenities to local
artisans, and promote self-employment opportunities.
¨ Through these centers,
Ladakh's traditional handicrafts and handloom industries are expected to gain
fresh momentum, thereby leading to an increase in income and employment opportunities
for local communities.
Common Facility Centers
¨ Common Facility Centers
are shared workspaces that can be utilized collectively by weavers, spinners,
tailors, artisans, and women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
¨ These centers are
equipped with modern machinery and facilities essential for production, leading
to improvements in both product quality and production capacity.
¨ Such an arrangement
relieves small-scale producers of the need to individually invest in expensive
resources, thereby fostering collective growth.
Promoting Rural Entrepreneurship and
Self-Employment
¨
Common Facility Centers
play a pivotal role in encouraging local entrepreneurship, skill development,
and self-employment.
¨ These centers provide the necessary infrastructure and facilities for production and processing to micro-enterprises operating in rural areas. In particular, these centers can serve as a powerful medium for the economic empowerment of women and Self-Help Groups.
¨ By leveraging shared production facilities, rural artisans will be able to make their products more competitive and market-oriented.
