¨     Willie Walsh assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IndiGo on 3 August 2026.

¨     IndiGo announced his appointment in March 2026.

¨     He succeeded Pieter Elbers, who resigned as CEO on 10 March 2026.

¨     IndiGo is India’s largest airline by fleet size and daily operations.

¨     The airline operates more than 430 aircraft and nearly 2,200 daily flights.

¨     It serves over 95 domestic destinations and 40 international destinations.

¨     Willie Walsh served as the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) until 31 July 2026.

¨     He has more than four decades of experience in the aviation industry.

¨     His leadership career includes senior roles at Aer Lingus, British Airways, and International Airlines Group (IAG).

¨     The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of an airline is responsible for overall management, strategic direction, network planning, commercial strategy, and operational oversight.

¨     At IndiGo, the CEO also oversees international expansion, customer experience, and operational excellence.
