hosted the Asia-Pacific Accident Investigation Group (APAIG) Meeting and
Workshop for the first time. This four-day event was held from 28 to 31 October
2025.
¨ The meeting and workshop are being organised
by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on behalf of the Ministry
of Civil Aviation.
¨ The event was inaugurated by Union Civil
Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu.
¨ The International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations.
¨
It was
established in 1947. Its headquarters are in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The
meeting is being organised with the participation of ICAO member countries from
the Asia-Pacific region and various international organisations.
¨ Approximately 90 representatives from ICAO
and aircraft accident investigation authorities from Asia-Pacific countries are
participating in this event.
¨ The Asia-Pacific Accident Investigation Group
meeting is held annually in one of the member countries.
¨
India is
hosting it for the first time in 2025.
Objective of the
Meeting
¨
The main
objective of this meeting and workshop is to promote the exchange of expertise,
experience, and knowledge related to aircraft accident investigation.
¨
Furthermore,
this event is an important step towards further strengthening aviation safety
in the Asia-Pacific region.
