Delhi Pollution Control Committee launched the “Road Radar” initiative in Delhi

¨     Delhi Pollution Control Committee launched the “Road Radar” initiative in Delhi on 8 May 2026.

¨     The initiative aims to identify sources of air pollution through daily ground-level surveys.

¨     “Road Radar” stands for “Real-time Air Pollution Detection and Response on Roads.”

¨     The system uses geo-tagged reporting for quick mitigation of scattered pollution sources.

¨     Road Radar is a field-based programme for monitoring road-related pollution sources in Delhi.

¨     A total of 13 dedicated surveyors have been deployed under the initiative.

¨     One surveyor has been assigned to each district of Delhi.

¨     Surveyors use the “MCD-311” mobile application for geo-tagged field surveys.

¨     Each surveyor has been assigned a target of reporting at least 70 pollution-related cases daily.

¨     Collectively, around 1,000 cases are expected to be reported every day.

¨     Around 18,000 kilometres of roads are surveyed every month under the initiative.

¨     The survey covers wards under different municipal bodies and agencies in Delhi.

¨     The system has been designed for daily inspection of roads and related public spaces.

¨     Reported issues are automatically forwarded to the concerned authorities for action.

¨     The system also includes safeguards to prevent duplication of complaints.
