GMR Aero Technic and Honeywell Aerospace
Sign Agreement for MRO Services
¨
GMR Aero Technic signed a
licence agreement with Honeywell Aerospace on 28 July 2026 for providing
Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services in Hyderabad, India.
¨ The agreement covers
seven Honeywell Aerospace Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) installed on LEAP
engines used in commercial aviation.
¨ Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) is an aviation support activity that includes the inspection, repair, overhaul, and restoration of aircraft components and systems.
¨
Depot-level maintenance
refers to advanced repair work carried out at specialised facilities rather
than at regular aircraft line stations.
¨
LEAP engines are a family
of turbofan engines developed by CFM International for narrow-body aircraft.
¨
These engines power the
Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX, which are among the most widely used
single-aisle aircraft in global airline fleets.
¨
Line Replaceable Units
(LRUs) are modular aircraft components that can be quickly removed and replaced
during maintenance.
¨
Hyderabad is one of
India’s major aviation engineering centres and houses the repair infrastructure
of GMR Aero Technic.
¨
The agreement will
provide in-region repair capability for LEAP engine operators in India and
neighbouring markets.
¨ It will strengthen India’s aviation MRO ecosystem and reduce dependence on overseas maintenance facilities.
¨ The agreement also aligns with the Make in India initiative, launched by the Government of India in 2014 to promote domestic manufacturing and technical capabilities.
