Government of Kerala
launched an AI-led governance initiative on 4 August 2026.
¨
The initiative aims to
integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital public service delivery, and
integrated planning systems into state administration.
¨
The reforms include a
Central Programme Management Unit (PMU), an AI-enabled Business Process
Re-engineering (BPR) Cell, a "Once-Only" document submission
framework through DigiLocker, and digital systems for land, litigation, and
public asset management.
¨Artificial
Intelligence (AI) in governance uses machine learning, natural language
processing (NLP), and automation to improve administrative efficiency and
public service delivery.
¨
In Kerala, AI will be
used for drafting official notes, retrieving government orders, summarising
documents, and translation.
¨
The initiative is
designed to strengthen e-governance and improve the efficiency of government
administration.
¨
The state has introduced
the VEGAM Framework to accelerate the land acquisition process.
¨
The framework aims to
reduce the pre-notification stage from 18–24 months to about 3–4 months through
technology-enabled workflows.
¨
The SAMPATH Portal will
serve as a GIS-based digital register of state-owned land, buildings, and other
public assets.
¨
PLANSPACE 2.0 has been
launched as an integrated digital register for development projects.
¨
PLANSPACE 2.0 is aligned
with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
