India and Bangladesh
agreed on 12 June 2026 to strengthen border cooperation through enhanced
intelligence sharing and coordinated patrols.

The agreement followed a
four-day meeting of senior border officials in New Delhi.
¨
India and Bangladesh
share a land border of more than 4,000 kilometres, making it one of the longest
international borders in the world.
¨
The 57th Director
General-level Border Coordination Conference was held from 8–11 June 2026.
¨
The meeting was attended
by India’s Border Security Force and Bangladesh’s Border Guard Bangladesh.
¨
The Indian delegation was
led by Praveen Kumar, Director General of BSF.
¨
The Bangladesh delegation
was led by Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui.

The DG-level conference
is a regular bilateral mechanism for border management between the two border
forces.

The Coordinated Border
Management Plan (CBMP) serves as a joint framework for patrol coordination,
information sharing, and handling border incidents.
Key issues discussed during the talks
included:

Illegal, inadvertent, and
forcible border crossings.
¨
Human trafficking.
¨
Border deaths.
¨
Smuggling activities.
¨
Border infrastructure
development.
¨
Implementation of the
Coordinated Border Management Plan.
Border management along the India–Bangladesh frontier
also involves fencing, riverine stretches, and densely populated border
districts.On 4 June 2026, Bangladesh stated that it had foiled several attempts
to push people into its territory.BGB reported detecting 10 attempted
infringements across different border sectors.In May 2026, India requested
Bangladesh to verify the nationality of more than 2,860 suspected Bangladeshi
nationals reportedly residing in India.The discussions highlighted the
commitment of both countries to improve border security, curb illegal
activities, and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
