Ministry of External Affairs has appointed Rudra Gaurav Shresth as the next Ambassador of India to Türkiye

¨     Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has appointed Rudra Gaurav Shresth as the next Ambassador of India to Türkiye.

¨     He is a 1999-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.

¨     Prior to this appointment, he was serving as India’s Ambassador to Iran.

¨     An ambassador is the highest-ranking diplomatic representative of one country in another country.

¨     In India’s foreign service structure, ambassadors head diplomatic missions in countries with which India maintains full diplomatic relations.

¨     India and Türkiye maintain bilateral diplomatic relations through their embassies in New Delhi and Ankara.

¨     Türkiye is a transcontinental country located in both Europe and Asia.

¨     Its strategic location makes it important in West Asian, European, and Eurasian diplomacy.

¨     The Indian Foreign Service (IFS) is one of India’s premier diplomatic services responsible for managing external affairs.

¨     IFS officers are recruited through the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

¨     They represent India in diplomatic engagements, foreign policy implementation, and international negotiations.
