Narendra Modi received Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, Bintang Adipurnaat Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace in Jakarta

¨     Narendra Modi received Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, Bintang Adipurna, on 7 July 2026 at Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

¨     The award was presented by Prabowo Subianto during Modi’s official state visit to Indonesia from 6–8 July 2026.

¨     Bintang Adipurna is also known as the Star of the Republic of Indonesia (First Class).

¨     The honour was instituted in 1959 and is Indonesia’s highest order of merit.

¨     It is conferred on individuals for extraordinary service to the unity, continuity, and prosperity of Indonesia.

¨     It is the highest-ranking civilian decoration in Indonesia’s national honours system.

¨     The award recognised Narendra Modi’s contribution to strengthening India–Indonesia bilateral relations.

¨     India and Indonesia have upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, enabling high-level cooperation across multiple sectors.

¨     During the visit, Narendra Modi and Prabowo Subianto held bilateral talks on energy, trade, maritime cooperation, and defence.

¨     India and Indonesia are maritime neighbours in the Indian Ocean region and cooperate through regional and bilateral mechanisms.
