Pakistan expanded its Earth-observation satellite network by launching six satellites between January 2025 and June 2026

¨     Pakistan expanded its Earth-observation satellite network by launching six satellites—PAUSAT-1, PRSC-EO1, PRSS-2, HS-1, PRSC-EO2, and PRSC-EO3—between January 2025 and June 2026.

¨     The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) is Pakistan's national space agency and is associated with these launches.

¨     Earth-observation satellites are spacecraft that collect data from orbit regarding land, water, the atmosphere, and urban areas. They are used for mapping, environmental monitoring, agriculture, disaster management, and urban planning.

¨     Pakistan's recent satellites include platforms equipped with imaging and surveillance capabilities for both civil and dual-use applications.

¨     PRSC-EO3 was launched in April 2026 from China's Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center using a Long March-6 rocket.

¨     This satellite utilizes a specific orbit designed to increase the frequency of passes over South Asia, including northern India and Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan's first hyperspectral satellite, HS-1, was launched in October 2025 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China.
