RBI appointed Monisha Chakraborty as Executive Director with effect

¨     Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Monisha Chakraborty as Executive Director with effect from 3 August 2026.

¨     In her new role, she will oversee the Foreign Exchange Department and the Financial Markets Regulation Department of the RBI.

¨     The Executive Director is a senior officer-level position in the Reserve Bank of India.

¨     Executive Directors are assigned responsibility for specific departments and functions within the central bank’s administrative framework.

¨     Before her elevation, Monisha Chakraborty served as Chief General Manager-in-Charge in the Department of Supervision.

¨     She has more than three decades of experience in the Reserve Bank of India.

¨     She has worked in key areas including Supervision, Foreign Exchange, and Government and Bank Accounts.

¨     Chakraborty was part of a technical committee that reviewed the format of the RBI’s Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Account.

¨     She also served as a Banking Ombudsman, a position associated with grievance redressal in the banking system.
