¨     Swaminathan Janakiraman has been reappointed as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for an additional two-year term, effective from June 26, 2026.

¨     Approved by the Government of India and announced by the RBI on June 5, 2026, this reappointment ensures continuity in the central bank's leadership during a crucial phase for the Indian economy.

¨     Prior to joining the RBI, Swaminathan Janakiraman held senior positions at the State Bank of India and possesses extensive experience in banking operations, risk management, financial supervision, credit, and technology-driven banking reforms.
