¨ Union Labour Ministry
launched a nationwide free annual health screening scheme for workers above 40
years of age on 7 May 2026.
¨ The initiative is being
implemented through Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospitals and
affiliated facilities under the Social Security Code, 2020.
¨
The scheme provides
annual health check-ups for insured workers above the age of 40 years.
¨
Its objective is early
detection and timely treatment of major diseases.
¨
Screenings include heart
disease, diabetes, hypertension, and occupational illnesses.
¨
Treatment and medicines
for identified diseases will also be provided through ESIC facilities.
¨
The programme was
inaugurated at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Basaidarapur, Delhi.
¨
Similar events were
simultaneously organised at 11 other ESIC hospitals across India.
¨
ESIC hospitals and
affiliated centres are conducting screening camps for workers under the social
security framework.
¨
In Jaipur, the ESIC
Medical College and Hospital screened 300 insured persons on the first day.
¨ The medical tests
included diabetes screening, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol
testing.
¨ Anaemia tests, ECG examinations, and chest X-rays were also part of the screening process.
¨ The scheme aims to ensure regular health monitoring and timely diagnosis of serious illnesses among workers.
