Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved two Ministry of Railways multi-tracking projects

¨     Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved two Ministry of Railways multi-tracking projects on 15 July 2026.

¨     The projects are located in the states of Odisha and Jharkhand.

¨     The approved works include the doubling of the Paradeep–Haridaspur railway line and the construction of a fourth railway line on the Rajkharsawan–Dangoaposi route.

¨     The combined estimated cost of the two projects is about ₹3,907 crore.

¨     The projects will add around 145 kilometres of railway capacity to the Indian Railways network.

¨     The works will cover four districts across Odisha and Jharkhand.

¨     The Paradeep–Haridaspur railway line is located in Odisha.

¨     The Rajkharsawan–Dangoaposi route passes through parts of Odisha and Jharkhand.

¨     Both projects are targeted for completion by FY 2030–31.

¨     The capacity expansion is expected to support an additional 44 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) of freight traffic.
